Bookkeeping

Bookkeeping is the process of recording and categorizing your financial transactions, regularly. Luckily, bookkeeping has evolved over the last 10 years. We are now entering a time where good bookkeepers are able to use data to analyze a businesses’ financial health in addition to crunching numbers.

No problem! We will set up your books digitally, and provide you with the necessary tools to make the transition process as easy as possible. It’s important to have accurate bookkeeping records in case your income or expenses are ever questioned by the Canada Revenue Agency.

The majority of our clients are on Quickbooks Online. It’s an inexpensive, universal, and simple accounting software. However, we will work with all accounting software, including Quickbooks Desktop, Sage products, Wave Accounting, Freshbooks, Zoho, and more.

Taxes

Personal taxes are to be paid by April 30th and filed by June 15th. We always recommend getting your taxes done by the end of March, that way you’ll have bragging rights with your family and friends who are still scrambling.

Never fear! This is very common and you are not alone. The best thing is to get started now, by making an appointment with us. We’ll help you get caught up, in a judgement-free environment. (Bonus points if you’re owed tax credits and/or refunds!) 

T2 returns are more complex than T1 returns. CRA requires detailed financial statements (balance sheet and income statements) and a lot more paperwork. We’ll set up a meeting and let you know in advance what you’ll need to bring.

Payroll

It depends! We assess your business’ needs to determine which payroll software is right for you. The choice is based on payroll frequency, the number of employees, and whether employees are hourly and/or salaried. We are currently partnered with Quickbooks Online Payroll, Wagepoint, and Payment Evolution.

Absolutely. We use Plooto to remit payments on your behalf to CRA (CPP, EI, taxes).

Business Structure / Enrollment

Your neighbour’s incorporated and so is your Uncle Frank…why aren’t you?? Incorporation isn’t always the answer, but if done at the correct time it can be extremely beneficial. Contact us to see if incorporation is right for your business.

This is a formal way of showing your business’ financial health. It expands on your income, expenses, assets, liabilities, and equity. It can be a lot to take in, we’ll help break it down for you.

Yes! We love what we do, and we love helping businesses succeed and foster independence. We can offer in-house, on-site, or remote training on your accounting software.

Other

We keep digital copies of your receipts, documents, and more in an encrypted online database. No stacks of boxes filled with paper. Your documents are secure and retrievable if needed, at any time, for the required 7 years (minimum). Your information is kept private and confidential.

No worries. We love collaborating with other professionals. We will ensure that they have all the documentation required to complete your tax returns.
